Responsibilities:

Key member of R&D team, developing innovative technology, contracted prototypes, and new products.This position will be part of an R&D team developing imaging systems, sensor systems, and detector systems.

Requirement:

Strong industry experience developing electro-optical infrared imaging or sensor systems.

Required Experience:

Experience dealing with optical and mechanical design. Experience in (multi-lane) optical transceiver product design & engineering with transition to volume manufacturing. Success with at least two generations of transceiver or active optical cable product design. with optical design and modeling (Zemax), particularly dealing with micro-optics typically found in fiber optic communication components. Experience with the metrology and evaluation of opto-mechanical components. Familiarity with active and passive fiber-optic communication components and techniques. Familiarity with materials encountered in semiconductor and optical packaging applications, typically semiconductors, glasses, metals, plastics, solders, and adhesives. Familiarity with fabrication and assembly techniques, including machining, molding, additive manufacturing, flip-chip bonding, and active alignment. Experience with mechanical design in SolidWorks..

The role is essentially a silicon photonic design role.

The office in the US focuses on R+D and works on integrated photonics.

They are developing a product hat is incredibly unique in the industry – they have the only credible solution, and their integrated photonic roadmap lets them get to low cost and small form factor, which is extremely attractive to automotive customers.

As a result, they are currently in a pre-sourcing development agreement with a major OEM!

In this role, you’ll get to be a key designer on the silicon photonic devices, as well as overall involvement in the development and verification of the overall component.

As they are a small company, it’s a great opportunity to learn across different areas of the development and make a meaningful impact.

Key words / experience:

Integrated photonics / Design and Architect /   Lumerical experience / Experience with ANSYS tools / PH.D / Silicon Photonics design / Telecom experience is ideal / Optical / Experience with Transceivers (Juniper/Infinera/Cisco)  /  We are not looking for fibre laser experience!   

Design and develop C/C++ code and identify improvements to existing code.

Integrate, configure, and maintain real-time operating systems on an embedded platform.

Design and develop software and software/hardware interfaces.

Develop static analysis and unit tests to verify source code functionality.

Develop automated test scripts (Python).  Guide and mentor technicians and junior engineers.

Present design alternatives and experimental results to the product development team for review, and review other team member’s designs.

Collaborate with the hardware team in selecting SoCs, designing hardware peripherals and interfaces; collaborate on solving difficult technical challenges with optical and electronic teams.

Work with systems, production, quality management, and customer support teams to resolve technical issues.

·        Develop, lead, and manage a team of 50+ engineers globally

We are looking for an experienced, highly-motivated electrical engineer to lead the electrical design. The candidate will be responsible for defining the electrical architecture of the systems, will be responsible for the design, manufacture and validation of PCBs and interconnects, including power supplies and fast signal routing.

Essential Skills & Experience Requirements (required):

Experience defining system electrical architectures

Experience with hands-on high-speed board design

Experience working with VCSELs

Deep understanding of signal integrity, impedance matching and techniques for reducing inductances

Experience bringing electrical systems to mass production

Experience managing small teams of engineers
